Terms of Service

These Terms govern your use of The Bill Split (the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

The Service

The Bill Split helps you split restaurant and group bills — scan a receipt, assign items to people, calculate each person’s share, and share a link. It is a convenience tool for organising who owes what; it does not move money between people and is not a bank, wallet, or payment processor for settling those amounts.

Eligibility & accounts

• You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service.
• You are responsible for your account and for keeping your sign-in secure.
• You agree to provide accurate information and to use the Service only for lawful purposes.

Passes, scans & payments

• Access and AI receipt scans are sold as time-limited passes and top-ups. The scans and validity of each are shown at the time of purchase.
• Payments are processed by Razorpay. Passes do not auto-renew.
• Manual splitting (without AI scanning) is available while you hold an active pass.
• Refunds and cancellations are governed by our Refund & Cancellation Policy.

Your content

You retain ownership of the bills and images you upload. You grant us a limited license to store and process them solely to provide the Service (including sending receipt images to our AI provider for text extraction). You confirm you have the right to upload any receipt or image you submit.

Accuracy of scanning

AI receipt scanning is provided as a convenience and may be inaccurate or incomplete. You are responsible for reviewing and correcting extracted items, amounts, and totals before relying on or sharing a split. We are not liable for amounts that are wrong due to misread or mis-assigned items.

Acceptable use

You agree not to: misuse or disrupt the Service; attempt to bypass payment, scan limits, or security; access other users’ data; upload unlawful content; or reverse-engineer, scrape, or resell the Service.

Availability

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that scanning results will be accurate.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, The Bill Split will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any loss arising from amounts calculated or shared through the Service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the three months before the claim.

Termination

You may stop using the Service and request account deletion at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or are used for fraud or abuse.

Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India, and disputes are subject to the courts of India.
