This Privacy Policy explains how The Bill Split (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our website and app at thebillsplit.com (the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.
When you scan a receipt, the image is processed by a trusted third-party AI service (Google) to read the bill. Your receipts are never used to train AI models.
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with service providers that help us operate the Service, under agreements that limit them to that purpose:

When you finalize a bill, we generate a link with a random code. Anyone who has that link can view that bill’s split (names, amounts, and the receipt image) without signing in. Only share it with the people involved. You can delete a bill at any time, which removes its public link.
We keep your bills and receipts only as long as needed to provide the Service. You can delete a bill at any time, and we may also remove older bills automatically over time. If you close your account, your associated data is deleted. Payment records may be retained longer as required for legal and accounting purposes.
We use industry-standard measures — encrypted connections, scoped access, and signed storage URLs — to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to safeguard your information.
You can access and update your name in your account settings, delete individual bills, and request deletion of your account and associated data by writing to support@thebillsplit.com.
The Service is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.
We may update this policy from time to time. We will revise the “Last updated” date above when we do.
